Day 02 East - 01/03/22

Today was a delightful sea day traveling at 19.5 knots which makes the ride pretty smooth with the stabilizers extended. There were some things new and somethings old.

In the morning was the return of the coffee chat with Ian our C&T Director.  His guest with the head chef who was also from England.  We also had the chance to chat briefly with Ian and reminisce about our last cruise together pre-pandemic on the Volendam.  Also returning was Debbie giving the shore excursions review for our upcoming ports.  I ended up booking excursions in all of the ports using the HAL mobile APP. Ian then gave a repeat EXE talk on Marconi which was quite good.

After my sushi lunch I kicked back and watched the Koningsdam and the ocean in front of us from the Crow's Nest.  We also watched a presentation on Mexican Wines, a new EXC talk on Games (very good), and a craft class on Mexican paper flowers (actually quite good).

Dinner was excellent in the Pinnacle and we tried the hanging bacon and I had the 14 oz pork chop.  Once again the meal and service was very nice.  At the Captain's Welcome, for the first time no drinks were served.  Rather one received a coupon for a free bar drink.  Captain Frank van der Hoven's welcome was gracious and he was very thankful for being back at sea and he confirmed there were some 800 guests onboard.  The evening show was Humanity by the The Step One Dance Company.  This was a repeat for us as we've seen it on multiple ships. We then watched a comedian, Dave Burleigh, who was pretty funny and did a number of singer and politician impressions.  We ended our evening watching the music trivia hosted by Karen.

We have a projected late morning arrival in Cabo San Lucas.  We have a whale watching excursion booked.  Stay tuned.
