Day -2 12/31/21
It was a little stressful this morning as the emed.com Covid test queue was quite long. I waited nearly an hour and my wife waited about 20 minutes for her test. Our negative results were emailed to me within minutes and I printed them.
Once at the airport, the baggage drop lines were long and for the line we were in, one agent left her post and the other agent continued to work with a family group for over a half hour without resolving the issue. These folks should have gone to the assistance line. So when we saw that the assistance line was actually moving so we moved there. After a short wait, the agent quickly checked us in after asking us what our issue was. When I told him we had no issues but there were no agents at the baggage drop area, we just wanted to drop our luggage. He smiled and said he would have done the same thing.
TSA Pre-Check clearance was a breeze and we took the underground train to the north satellite. Once off the train, we made our way to our gate where boarding was already in progress. After a very brief wait we boarded our plane.
Now that I knew we had a high probability of making the trip, I used the app HOTEL TONIGHT to book 2 nights at the Sheraton by the airport for an average price of $175/night. We might have nice views of the fireworks at the harbor tonight.
Our flight pushed back at 12:02 and due to tailwinds, we'll be there in a little over two hours. However, there is a long takeoff queue to the south end of the airport, so we parked in front of the main terminal for about 10 minutes. At 12:23pm with the roar of the engines, we were off.
My next update will be tomorrow 1/1/22. Stay tuned
